A Studied Rejoinder

My wife has invited me to post a reply to her unprovoked attack. Herewith:

(postiions thumb on nose, wiggles fingers) “Nyahh, nyahh, nyahh!”

I am not subtle.

A little esprit d’escalier, but the Beatles
were actually after the Beat generation.
They started as a skiffle band which is
    not quite the same thing.

    Solidarity Brother.

Thanks for your support, Chuck. It encouraged me to find this definitive, but still vague, study on the name “Beatles:” http://abbeyrd.best.vwh.net/named.htm

It supports a part of what Denise said about “beat” as in “beat music,” but not as in rhythm.

In general, it seems that no one, not even the Beatles themselves, knows the exact provenance of the name.

BTW: As far as the best band name ever, here’s one I’ve been saving for when I learn to play guitar and become the biggest music sensation since The Partridge Family — “The Blue Suit of Happiness.”

    Rock on.
