Worth It

Well, the death march is over. I got my presentation in a full two hours before deadline. And, if you’re interested in XML Schema and XQuery, you can come hear me present it at this year’s Catalyst Conference in San Diego. Soon I’ll start working on Moxie again. For now, though, here’s a little tidbit.

My wife works in the pharmacuetical industry. Last August she facilitated a session on open source software in clinical research at the Drug Information Agency conference (that’s my girl). Yours truly, of course, was elected to lead off the session. I had twenty minutes to deliver an introduction to open source to a professional but non-technical audience. So, if you ever find yourself having just twenty minutes to convince an influencer of the merits of open source, here’s my slide deck (in PDF format). Nothing new here, but packaged into just 15 slides

I know nobody cares, but in the event someone ends up here accidentally I’ll explain where I’ve been and where I will be — blog wise. For the last 3+ weeks I’ve been preparing a 2 day workshop on developing secure applications. I deliver it next week in New Mexico. This summer I will be delivering a tutorial at Burton Group’s Catalyst Conference on XML Schema, XQuery, etc. That content is due on May 19th. On may 20th I’ll start thinking about Moxie again.
